Global Education Conference Newsletter (March 2013)

Dear Friends of Ursuline Education,

We are happy to send you this first issue of Ursuline Educational Services' Newsletter designed to keep you informed about the planning of our first Global Education Conference scheduled for June 2014.

Ursuline Educational Services was established by the Ursuline sisters in the United States in 1987 in an effort to enhance Ursuline education and to insure its continued success in educating young women and men in the Ursuline tradition. Since its beginning, UES has served the Ursuline schools in the United States and Canada by sponsoring annual conferences for teachers and administrators. These programs are designed to foster academic excellence in the schools and also to provide an opportunity for collaboration and mutual support for those engaged in the ministry of Ursuline education.

UES also sponsors an annual Student Leadership Conference, offering emerging student leaders leadership development rooted in the core values of an Ursuline education and the charism of St. Angela.

In 2014 UES is sponsoring the first education conference on a global scale. We are inviting Ursuline educators from all over the world to gather in New Rochelle, New York to celebrate our common heritage as followers of St. Angela and to discover together how we can enhance the charism of St. Angela in our schools in the twenty-first century.

On behalf of the Board of Trustees of Ursuline Educational Services, I invite you to attend the conference: Global Education in the Ursuline Spirit. From now until its opening on June 16, 2014 we will be sending you this newsletter on a regular basis to keep you informed about the conference. In this issue, in addition to the brief background on UES, we also are attaching the Save the Date notice and information about obtaining a visa to come to the United States. We urge our fellow Ursuline educators from around the world to start this process that can be very time consuming soon.

In the next several issues of the newsletter we will be introducing the conference speakers. Over the next year, we will be sending you information about all aspects of the conference. If you have questions that are not addressed, please contact me jwimberg@ursuline-education.com.

We rely on the guidance and inspiration of St. Angela as we endeavor to "cultivate the vine which has been entrusted to us."

Sincerely,

Judith A. Wimberg
Director, Ursuline Educational Services
